Job:  Powder Coat Prepper/Wash bay attendant

Classification:  Non-exempt

Schedule:  10-hour shift, Monday – Thursday.  Overtime as assigned.

 

 Job summary:  This position will prepare surfaces on bodies and parts to be painted/power coated by painting staff.  

 

Responsibilities:    Thoroughly reviews each order prior to beginning work.   Completes all paint preparation processes for equipment according to factory specifications. Knows how to properly sand and prep for paint, and new parts.  Knows how to properly sand and featheredge surface for primer. Able to mask all panels and cover surface to minimize tapelines and overspray. Knows status of assigned equipment and helps problem solving on getting and keeping all equipment on schedule for delivery. This position will also include washing the bodies and parts to prepare for paint.  Consistently utilizes all required safe equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures.  Adheres to all requirements hazardous waste disposal. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Skills:  Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive tasks, and manual dexterity.   Vision abilities required include close, distance, and depth perception. Reaching above and below shoulder level.  Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high level of dust and noise.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Physical requirements:   Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect product. Must be able to lift-up to 50 lbs. periodically.
